Se-Won Pyun was born in Solingen. She has won several national prizes at Jugend musiziert (string quartet, duo: piano violin) and won first prize at the Lions Club in the category string trio. At the age of 16 she made her debut with the Solinger Orchesterverein in Solingen and at the age of 19 she made her solo debut in Prague and elsewhere.
She received her first piano lessons at the age of six and her first cello lessons at the age of eight at the Solingen Music School. At the age of 16 she joined the class of Prof. Claus Reichardt at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf as a young student and shortly afterwards changed to Matthias Diener, with whom she also began her regular studies. She received her diploma from Prof. Johannes Goritzki (also at the RSH) and then studied with Prof. Niklas Eppinger in Würzburg at the Hochschule für Musik, where she received her master class diploma (concert exam – highest possible artistic degree).
She also attended master classes with Marcus Kretzer (piano); (cello): with Prof. Alexander Ivashkin, Prof. Dimitris Patras, Prof. Taisuke Yamashita, Prof. Robert Cohen and Prof. David Geringas.
